A cup of coffee/ a smoothie, A good Classic Novel and a good comfy arm chair by the balcony! Even the slightest thought of it makes you contented!
For people who live in an apartment, balcony is an area of relaxation. Especially after you come back from the hectic work of your office! But for those who don’t live in any apartment, you can relate to …. Umm. The Window, the one that’s large! They provide you the same too!
I lived in an apartment once, And the one lesson I learnt from having a balcony is that IT NEVER BELONGS TO A SINGLE PERSON. AND SO DON’T ASK FOR IT!!!
I know that I so sound stupid.. but it’s true and I will tell you why!
As I mentioned in the beginning of the post, I wanted a balcony just the same! Book stand, a comfy armchair, and having a good view outside! I literally dreamt about it while moving over there! But just like a castle made of cards, my dream was also so delicate and it didn’t even take a week for that castle to be completely destroyed! To be ruined completely!
I arranged my chair, my stand, and some wonderful Indoor plants. Everything was happening just as I wanted! But then my father came… With a biggg sack and soil and stuff! He was going to plant Vegetables!!!! Not just one.. or two.. or three… But manyyy! Why is everyone aiming at destroying my perfect ideas!???
Okay I forgave him because he is doing something useful here. I rearranged my stuff, it was quite okay now because I had to only make a few changes!! (But changes are still changes, rite?!!) I made it look okay when another grenade came! Mother!!! And what does she have with her? The grill for drying the clothes!
But I had already learnt a lesson before – Never get in an argument with your mother. You will never win. Moreover the loss will be for you!! No delicacies for a week! Grounded for ever!🙄
Better be quite! But, it was pretty big balcony and I am now moved to one side – more like a corner! But I still had my comfy chair, my stand and my indoor plants, which I can’t distinguish from my father’s other veggies!
But then, as you would call as ‘fate’ 🤪, Mother aimed for my chair!! Now I am not gonna give that one!! She wanted it to be kept in the living room! My chair! My comfy chair!!! You might’ve guessed who won by now!😕
Now that’s gone, I settled with a stool from the kitchen. It didn’t take long for my brother to claim for the stand and of course, being the elder one, he has more power (don’t you say that youngest one has, because we don’t!) The one left now is my ugly stool and those indoor plants. Now that won’t be claimed by anyone! No one has interest in owning such things 😏!
But in a Jiffy, my brother’s chair and his stand with his laptop covered my corner in the balcony! Power!😣🤐 “Where’s my place? “And here comes the answer.. “you are so little. Balcony is not a safe place for you!!!”
No one can ever compete with me about making faces! 😣😮🤐😕😑😶🙄😯😒 But what good does it do!! Everything’s gone gone! And I am confined to my room. No comfy chair, no stand, no coffee ! Nothing! (Well, except my Stool! He took my plants too!)
Hence proved that Balcony never belonged to any single person. Got it?
Have you ever gotten yourself trapped in a balcony? No, I haven’t! I was asking for an experience about how that felt! I saw a famous Malayalam movie Bangalore Days! I saw the actress being stuck in a balcony and Cleverly using the help of the neighbours in getting out! But in real life? Neighbours are too busy with their work. And if you get trapped in a balcony, better you stay there until your roommate or family comes back!
Balcony is the only window to the outside world now. And actually it is pretty good too! Unoccupied roads, the re-appearing of birds and other insects!😅 You don’t hear the screaming of roadside vendors.. complete silence and a perfect vibe for reading and writing. The balcony these days are crowded like a Mumbai Train! And just to eradicate our boredom, we started annoying our mothers by gathering kitchen utensils and banging on them. The reason they wanted us to do that was to offer respect and honour to the health workers across the world. And for us, it was our way of participating in a concert! Bang! Bang! Bang!!!
